Eating with ADHD or Autism

navigating life with ADHD and/or autism can be stressful, but eating doesn’t need to be!

Is this you?

  • You feel overwhelmed when it comes to making food choices so instead you end up eating a handful of cheese and crackers or skipping the meal all together

  • You often feel indecisive and unsure what and when to eat

  • You hyperfocus on work and life during the day and forget to prioritize eating

  • Your ADHD medications curb your appetite during the day only to find yourself wanting to eat the entire kitchen later that night

  • You often using food as a way to either stimulate yourself or soothe yourself, which leads you to feel uncomfortably full and frustrated

  • You avoid cooking because it is challenging to wash the dishes, put away your ingredients and clean the kitchen

  • You find yourself throwing away rotting produce at the end of the week

ADHDers report more frequency of higher stress levels and have higher cortisol levels than non-ADHDers. They are also 4x more likely to develop and be diagnosed with an Eating Disorder.

 I get it

I too have ADHD and understand the complexities and nuances of having to do things differently with a neurodivergent brain.

Imagine a life where you…

  • Start each day feeling confident about your food choices by having a flexible plan that feels realistic for you

  • Remove the overwhelm when it comes to food so you can free up other space in your life

  • Learn ways to accomplish tasks, such as washing dishes, cleaning up as you go, and buying ingredients without dread

  • Eat consistently throughout the day and feel more energized and alert for your daily tasks

  • No longer engage in a restrict/ binge cycle

  • Remove any shame or guilt related to food and your ADHD/ Autism

Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Specializing in Eating with ADHD and Autism

I am a fellow ADHDer who was diagnosed at 12 years old. Having a diagnosis, which explained what I had been experiencing my entire life was life changing yet no one ever discussed the impact my ADHD would have on my eating and relationship with food. It wasn’t until much later in life when I recognized the strong connection between ADHD and eating - the restrict/ binge cycle, the use of food for dopamine, inconsistent eating patterns and so much more.

My approach when working with clients is highly individualized and person-centered. I meet you where you are and my role is to provide a safe space to explore the concerns, questions and thoughts.

My lived experience as someone with ADHD provides me with a special set of lens as I help you work through some of your biggest barriers when it comes to nourishing your body. My work is rooted in Intuitive Eating, self-compassion and self-care. You will be able to challenge your negative and critical thoughts using curiosity and non-judgement with my proven framework. You will receive tools to help you relearn your natural body cues (hello hunger and fullness!), navigate challenging body image days and learn to enjoy food again without overthinking it!
